Introduction
Welcome to Ruyay (Islamic Dream Interpretation). Dreams are personal, and we treat them that way. This privacy policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices you have. Ruyay is designed to work without an account — no name, email, or password is ever asked for.
Information We Collect
- Dream Descriptions: The text of the dreams you write or dictate, your answers to the app's clarifying questions, and the interpretations generated for you. These are stored so you can revisit them in your dream journal.
- Voice Input (optional): If you dictate a dream, speech is transcribed using Apple's Speech Recognition. Audio may be processed by Apple subject to Apple's Privacy Policy; Ruyay stores only the resulting text, never audio recordings.
- Optional Profile Details: You may optionally share context such as gender, age range, or life situation to improve interpretation relevance. All of it is optional and can be left empty.
- Anonymous Identifier: On first launch the app silently creates an anonymous Firebase account. This random identifier links your dreams to your device without revealing who you are.
- Purchase State: If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment. We receive only your subscription status via RevenueCat — never your payment details.
- Usage & Diagnostics: Anonymous usage events (Firebase Analytics) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) that help us improve the app.
How We Use Your Information
- Generate dream interpretations: your dream text, clarifying answers, and optional profile context are sent securely to our backend (hosted in the European Union) where the interpretation is composed, grounded in classical Islamic dream-interpretation references
- Keep your private dream journal in sync
- Manage your subscription entitlement
- Send local dream-journal reminders you configure (notifications are scheduled on-device)
- Fix crashes and improve the experience
AI Processing
Interpretations are generated with the help of artificial intelligence on our secure backend. Your dream content is processed only to produce your interpretation and is not used by us to train AI models. Interpretations are offered as spiritual reflection based on classical sources — they are not fortune-telling, medical, psychological, or legal advice.
Data Storage
Your dreams, interpretations, and profile are stored in Google Cloud Firestore (European Union region), protected by security rules so that only your anonymous account can access your data. Network communication uses TLS encryption, and access to our backend is protected by Apple App Attest device verification.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and the app contains no advertising. Data is shared only with the service providers that make the app work:
Data Deletion
You can permanently delete all your data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete My Data). This removes your dreams, interpretations, and profile from our servers. Because the account is anonymous, uninstalling the app also permanently abandons access to its data. You can also email us to request deletion.
Your Rights
- Access the data stored for your anonymous account
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Withdraw microphone, speech recognition, or notification permissions at any time via iOS Settings
Children's Privacy
Ruyay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
