Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do the interpretations come from?
A: Interpretations are composed with the help of AI, grounded in the classical Islamic dream-interpretation literature — primarily Al-Nābulsī's Taʿṭīr al-Anām and the work attributed to Ibn Sīrīn. When your dream contains symbols covered by these books, the interpretation cites what the sources actually say.
Q: Is this fortune-telling?
A: No. Dream interpretation in the Islamic tradition is reflective and probabilistic (ẓannī), never a claim to know the future or the unseen. The app states possibilities from the sources, pairs them with the Sunnah's guidance on dreams, and always closes with «والله أعلم» — and Allah knows best. For serious matters, consult a qualified scholar.
Q: What does Premium include?
A: Premium unlocks the full interpretation of every dream — the dream's kind, the symbols' meanings with their sources, the woven overall reading, practical guidance, and a closing duʿāʾ — plus follow-up chat. Premium is available as a weekly or annual auto-renewing subscription, and you can cancel anytime from your Apple ID settings.
Q: How do I restore my subscription?
A: Open the paywall and tap "Restore Purchases". Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, so it can always be restored on the device signed into the same Apple ID. Note that dream history is tied to the app installation — deleting the app permanently deletes your journal (see the next question).
Q: Do I need an account? What happens if I delete the app?
A: No account is needed — the app creates a private anonymous identity on first launch, and your dreams are visible only to you. Because there is no account to sign back into, deleting the app permanently abandons your dream journal. Your subscription itself is safe and can be restored via your Apple ID.
Q: How do I delete my data?
A: Go to Settings inside the app and choose Delete My Data. This permanently removes your dreams, interpretations, and profile from our servers. You can also email us and we'll handle it for you.
Q: Can I use the app in Arabic?
A: Yes — Ruyay is Arabic-first, with full right-to-left support, and also fully available in English. The app follows your iOS language setting, and you can override the language in the app's settings.
Q: Is my dream data private?
A: Yes. Dreams are stored under your anonymous identity, protected by server security rules, encrypted in transit, and never shared or sold. Nothing is ever posted anywhere. See our

Troubleshooting
- Interpretation fails or times out: Check your internet connection and try again. If the issue persists, the service may be briefly busy — wait a moment and retry.
- Voice dictation isn't working: Make sure Ruyay has Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions in iOS Settings → Ruyay.
- Reminders not arriving: Check that notifications are enabled in iOS Settings → Ruyay → Notifications.
- Purchase didn't unlock: Tap "Restore Purchases" on the paywall. If it still doesn't unlock, force-quit and reopen the app, then contact us.
- App is in the wrong language: Change the app language in Settings inside the app, or in iOS Settings → Ruyay → Language.
