Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does ScrollFit block apps?
A: ScrollFit uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls and ManagedSettings) to block apps at the system level. This means apps remain blocked even when ScrollFit is in the background or closed.
Q: What's the difference between "Block apps" and "Allow apps" modes?
A: In "Block apps" mode, only the selected apps are blocked while all others remain accessible. In "Allow apps" mode, only the selected apps are accessible while all others are blocked. Choose based on your focus needs.
Q: Can I unlock without doing exercise?
A: No. ScrollFit is designed to promote physical activity as part of digital wellbeing. There is no bypass option - you must complete your exercise mission (pushups or squats) to unlock. Plan ahead if you anticipate being unable to exercise.
Q: What's the difference between "Unlock" and "Take a Break"?
A: "Take a Break" gives you a temporary unlock (1-30 minutes) after which blocking resumes automatically. "Unlock" fully ends the current Lock until the next scheduled time. Both require completing your exercise mission.
Q: How accurate is the exercise detection?
A: ScrollFit uses MediaPipe AI-powered pose detection to accurately count your reps. For best results, position yourself so your full body is visible in the camera frame and ensure good lighting.
Q: What happens if my scheduled Lock crosses midnight?
A: ScrollFit handles cross-midnight schedules automatically. For example, a schedule from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM will keep apps blocked through the night until the end time the next morning.
Q: Can I customize how many reps are required?
A: Yes! When starting an Instant Lock or creating a Schedule, you can set separate rep requirements for pushups and squats (5-100 reps each). At unlock time, you choose which exercise to perform.
Q: Why does ScrollFit need Screen Time permissions?
A: Screen Time permissions (FamilyControls) are required to block and allow apps at the system level. Without these permissions, ScrollFit cannot restrict app access.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
- Apps not blocking: Ensure you've granted Screen Time permissions in Settings > Screen Time > ScrollFit
- Exercise not counting reps: Make sure your full body is visible in the camera frame and you have adequate lighting
- Schedule not activating: Verify the schedule is enabled (toggle ON) and the current day is selected
- Camera not working: Check that camera permissions are granted in Settings > Privacy > Camera > ScrollFit
- App seems stuck: Try force-closing and reopening the app. Your Lock state is preserved.
Important: ScrollFit has no emergency bypass. If you're unable to exercise, you won't be able to unlock your apps. Plan accordingly and use the "Take a Break" feature if you need temporary access.
